Easter egg carton crafts

Seasonal crafts are becoming a trend around here and they’re also some of our favourites, especially when created with recycled materials like paper egg cartons! So what better way to celebrate the start of Spring and Easter with a papercraft – Easter bunnies, chicks and owls crafted from 100% recycled paper egg cartons. This craft is recyclable, compostable and biodegradable or you can save them for years to come for your Easter decor. So gather your supplies and let’s get crafting!

For these crafts you’ll need:

  • Recycled paper egg cartons
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Paint (like white, pink, light blue, black, yellow, and orange)
  • Orange paper

Egg Carton Bunny Craft

Step 1: First, start by cutting out two cups from the egg carton, this will be your bunny body.

Step 2: Next cut out two longer ‘almond’ shapes from the egg carton scrapes. These will make your bunny ears.

Step 3: After you have cut out your pieces from the egg carton, paint each piece with white paint or paint it the colour of your choice.

Step 4: Once dry, paint a pink stripe on each of the bunny ears. Let dry again.

Step 5: Place glue on the inside edge of each egg carton cup and glue these two egg carton cups together to form the bunny body. Then place glue on the bottom edge of your bunny ears and place them on the back edge of the egg carton cup with the pink facing towards the egg carton.

Step 6: Once assembled and dried, it is now time to create your bunny’s face. First, create two round spots for rosy cheeks. Then place a pink triangle between the two pink circles. Lastly, paint on two black dots for the eyes.

Egg Carton Chick Craft

Step 1: First, start by cutting out two cups from the egg carton, this will be your chick’s body.

Step 2: Next, cut out two triangle pieces from the egg carton scraps. This will be your chick’s wings.

Step 3: After you have cut out your pieces from the egg carton, paint each piece with yellow paint. Let dry.

Step 4: Take the orange paper and cut out a beak and two feet

Step 5: Once dry, place glue on the inside edge of each egg carton cup and glue these two egg carton cups together to form the chick’s body. Place glue on the edge of the yellow triangle and place between the inside edges of the two egg carton cups.

Step 6: Place glue on the beak and feet and attach to the body of the chick

Step 7: Once assembled and dried, it is now time to create your chick’s face. Using black paint, create two dots for the eyes.

Egg Carton Owl Craft

Step 1: First, start by cutting out two cups from the egg carton, this will be your owl’s body.

Step 2: Paint these two egg carton cups a light blue with one or two coats of paint.

Step 3: Next, cut out two triangle pieces from the egg carton scraps. This will be your owl’s beak.

Step 4: After you have cut out your beak pieces from the egg carton, paint each piece with yellow paint. Let dry.

Step 5: Once dry, place glue on the inside edge of each light blue egg carton cup and glue these two egg carton cups together to form the owl’s body.

Step 6: Place glue on the two yellow triangles and place them on the body of the owl to form a beak.

Step 7: Once assembled and dried, it is now time to create the details on your owl. Using black paint, draw a small V shape at the bottom and gradually draw more as you get closer to the top.

Step 8: Using white paint, draw two flower shapes on the top portion of your owl, this will be where the owl’s eyes are.

Step 9: Once the white paint is dry, paint two black dots in the centre of the flower shapes to form the eyes

These chicks, bunnies and owls are sure to get you into the Easter spirit. If you have little ones, they’ll also love creating these, they’re easy for most ages, especially if you help with cutting the egg carton.
